Dr. Peter 站在台上，聚光燈將他的影子拉得很長。他正在講述關於 1726nm雷射與52週的漫長旅程。

我的手裡握著一瓶水。不是那種昂貴的氣泡水，而是泰國隨處可見的 Chang Drinking Water（大象牌飲用水）。瓶身上印著綠色和白色的圖案，還有那兩隻面對面的大象。

我也姓 Chang（張）。

這是一個巧合，當然。宇宙偶爾會丟給我們這種微小而無意義的巧合，就像在舊大衣口袋裡發現一張過期的電影票根。但在這個充滿數據與雷射波長的昏暗房間裡，喝著印有自己姓氏的水，讓我產生了一種奇妙的錯置感。彷彿我正在喝下的，是某種液態的自我。

台上，Dr. Peter 指著圖表說，經過一年的等待，那些惱人的痘痘平均減少了 78.6%。那是光與時間的勝利。

我轉開瓶蓋，喝了一口 Chang 礦泉水。水是常溫的，沒有味道，順著喉嚨滑下去，像是吞下了一段安靜的時間。我想著那些接受治療的人，他們原本有 56.2% 的人感到尷尬，一年後只剩下 8.4%。

他們的尷尬消失了

就像水蒸發在空氣中一樣。

It was at the 2025 Cutera Collective meeting.

I was seated there, wrapped in a dark suit. A suit is a peculiar thing—like a social suit of armor. It separates you ever so slightly from the world around you, while granting you a necessary and well-defined silhouette. The air conditioner hummed overhead, its sound like a distant signal transmitted from some far-off planet.

Dr. Peter stood on the stage, the spotlight stretching his shadow into something elongated and monumental. He was speaking about the long, 52-week journey of the

1726nanometer laser

In my hand was a bottle of water.

Not one of those expensive sparkling varieties, but the ubiquitous Chang Drinking Water sold everywhere in Thailand. The bottle carried green and white patterns, along with two elephants facing each other.

My surname is also Chang.

A coincidence, of course. The universe occasionally tosses us these small, meaningless accidents, like finding an expired movie ticket stub in the pocket of an old coat. Yet in this dim room, filled with data and wavelengths, drinking water printed with my own surname gave me a strange sense of dislocation. As if what I was swallowing was some liquid version of myself.

On stage, Dr. Peter pointed at a chart and said that after a year, those stubborn acne lesions had been reduced by an average of 78.6%. It was a victory of light over time.

I twisted open the bottle and took a sip. The water was at room temperature, tasteless, sliding down my throat like a quiet segment of time. I thought about the patients: initially, 56.2% of them felt embarrassed; after a year, only 8.4% remained.

Their embarrassment had evaporated, like water disappearing into air.

I adjusted my tie, my fingertips grazing the smooth silk. Dr. Peter continued narrating the story of shrinking sebaceous glands, while I just sat there, holding the bottle adorned with elephants—feeling both present and somehow out of place.

This was an afternoon in 2025. Light was treating the skin, water was nourishing the body, and coincidence drifted softly through the air.
